Method 1

Take 1 inch – Ginger, 1 tbsp – Coriander seeds/ kothamalli/ Daniya, Sugar/ jaggery / honey as needed (op tional) . Crush the coriander seed and ginger, pour hot boiling water over it. let it sit for 10 to 15 mins. Drain using strainer. Add Sugar/ jaggery / honey of your choice. Drink it on empty stomach.

Method 2

Take ½ cup coriander seeds, ¼ cup cumin seeds, 2 tsp pepper, 1 tsp fennel,6 pods cardamom, 10 clove and dry roast on low flame until spices turn aromatic. Cool it completely , add  ½ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp ginger powder than blend the mixture to powdered form without adding any water. kashaya powder is ready, store in an airtight container.

To prepare kashaya, in a saucepan take 2½ cup water and add 3 tsp of prepared kashaya powder, add 2 tbsp jaggery or sugar, stir well and boil for 5 minutes , turn off the flame and add ¼ cup milk. mix well. Enjoy kashaya to cure cough, fever or boost immunity.


Coriander & Ginger both have medicinal benefits.Typically coriander has cooling effect, but when it is combined with ginger, it provides a balanced heat. Take Fresh Ginger in required amount.
Wash ginger very well in fresh water , peel ginger if you want otherwise use it without peeling.
Chop ginger in to small pieces or into thinner slices.  Line the thin slices or pieces on a clean cloths making sure that the slices don’t overlap at all. Put it in sun. The more sun that your ginger pieces get, the faster they will dry. Leave it in the sun for 3 /4 days to 1 week depending on how much sun the ginger gets.

Place the dried ginger slices or dried ginger pulp into a grinder/blender. Grind the dried ginger into powder. Sieve ginger powder, transfer back the remaining amount into mixer and grind again. Sieve one more time and sun dry ginger powder again for 1/2 an hour than transfer into an airtight jar and store for around six months. 


Dry ginger powder contains thermogenic agents that are useful to burn fat and treat obesity. It soothes the stomach and gives relief from inflammation. Dry ginger powder can be added to milk and sugar to get rid of urinary infections . Dried ginger powder is commonly used in spices and masalas, curries and stews.

Take 1/2 pound fresh ginger and 1/2 cup sugar. Peel the ginger and cut it into the thinnest slices. Place the slices in a medium saucepan and cover with enough water to submerge them. Boil it than turn heat to low flame. The slices will be a deeper shade of yellow and have a more rubbery consistency.

Reserve 1/4 cup cooking liquid and drain. Return the ginger to the pot along with the reserved cooking liquid and the sugar. Bring to a rapid simmer over a high flame. Turn the heat down to medium and continue to simmer the ginger, stirring frequently, until the liquid has evaporated and the sugar begins to crystallise about 10 to 15 minutes.

Transfer the ginger immediately and spread until cool. Store the candied ginger in an airtight container for up to three weeks.

Take 1 cup whole wheat flour , 1/4 cup Dry ginger powder (sonth) , 3/4 cup Jaggery ,1/3 cup Gound (natural gum), 1/2 cup dry gratted coconut , grated 1/2 cup Mixed nuts , almonds, cashews and pistachios , 1/3 cup desi ghee.

Heat 1 tablespoon ghee in a  heavy bottomed pan . Add Gound and fry it on low flame till it turns slightly brown in colour. Crushed it and kept in a plate. In same way fry wheat flour, Dry ginger powder ,dry gratted coconut and kept aside. Heat the Gud or Jaggery in a pan till melted.

Pour the filtered jaggery syrup into the whole wheat flour bowl. Mix all the ingredients well. Wait until heat reduces to bearable amount to touch. Make small balls of round shapes. Put it in an airtight container. Enjoy the laddu.

Take 1 cup whole wheat flour (atta), 1/3 cup desi ghee ,1 Tbsp Methi (fenugreek) seeds ,2 tsp Saunf (fennel seeds) ,1 tsp sonth (dried, powdered ginger) , 1 tsp black pepper, 3/4 cup khhand or sugar.

Heat ghee in a  heavy bottomed pan . Add atta and fry it on low flame till it becomes light brown. Dry roast black pepper, methi (fenugreek) seeds , saunf (fennel seeds) and grind them.

When atta mixture is completely cooled, add the sugar, ground ingredients and the sonth, and mix very well, rubbing it with your open palm against the base of the bowl. Add dry fruits for taste. Make small balls of round shapes. Put it in an airtight container. Enjoy the laddu.
